If you're searching for an ideal location for a destination wedding, consider picturesque Sonoma County. Each year, dozens upon dozens of couples choose Sonoma weddings for a variety of reasons, the most prevalent being the spectacular scenery and breathtaking views available here, especially on the coast.
Sonoma wedding locations are many, however, and certainly aren't limited to just coastal destinations. You'll find a wealth of additional options available when searching for that perfect Sonoma County place to hold your ceremony and/or reception.
Choosing a Location
Before even deciding upon a Sonoma wedding, many couples have already established an idea of the "perfect wedding" in their dreams. Sonoma County can fulfill those dreams, but exactly where you choose to hold your wedding will depend largely on your needs and expectations.
Some of the most popular locations for Sonoma weddings are the many bed and breakfast establishments located in towns and cities throughout the county. While Sonoma's B&Bs are absolutely wonderful, remember that many are small in size - an issue that should be considered. Actually, the B&Bs are excellent for intimate affairs though some do indeed boast dining rooms that will hold up to 50 people.
Country inns and lodges tend to be a bit bigger but equally as pristine and lovely. Such locations can provide the slightly larger affair with not only wonderful settings for your ceremony and reception, but also rooms for you, your bridal party, and/or your guests. What could be more convenient?
Another spectacular option is to hold your wedding ceremony and reception at one of Sonoma County's many wineries. Of the 300 or so in the area, many offer wedding and reception packages. Imagine the photos as you and your future partner stand amidst the fields of grapes or on the balcony of one of the grand homes that are often found at the wineries!
If you're planning on an outdoor ceremony, that can be achieved at any of these places as well as at one of the county's many state or regional parks. Some provide sparkling views of the ocean while others can offer you a wedding amidst spectacular redwoods.
Choosing a Town or City
When considering exactly where to hold your wedding, there are a number of issues to consider. Is your wedding party and guest list large? If so, you may consider a location near one of the larger towns or cities so as to accommodate your guests. For example, Santa Rosa, Healdsburg, and Rohnert Park are home to many hotels that can provide lodging for a larger wedding.
If a seaside location is what you fancy, Sonoma weddings are perfect in Jenner or Bodega Bay. Each offers something a little different but both will provide breathtaking views.
The town of Sonoma is a great place for a wedding. Sonoma is "quintessential Sonoma County" - an artsy town that offers a wealth of B&Bs, inns, small hotels, restaurants, and wineries for your consideration.
